Distributional Validity and Calibration of a Korean Synthetic Persona Panel for Digital and AI Service Use: A Secondary-Data Validation Against the Korea Media Panel Survey

A recent study evaluated the distributional validity and calibration of a Korean synthetic persona panel, specifically NVIDIA Nemotron-Personas-Korea conditioned into Gemini 3.5 Flash and EXAONE, as substitutes for human survey respondents. The research assessed how effectively these AI personas could reproduce digital and AI service-use distributions by comparing their responses to the Korea Media Panel Survey. The findings indicate that while these synthetic personas can generally mimic human survey responses for general population distributions, their accuracy significantly decreases for more granular or nuanced demographic segments, and their innovativeness and acceptance responses were not accurate.
