A new browser-based platform, Tact, has been developed to enable the on-demand creation of tactile braille storybooks with matching raised illustrations. This system aims to address the decline in braille literacy among blind school-aged children by providing a zero-cost, accessible method for producing braille materials, circumventing the traditional requirements for specialized software and trained labor. It supports converting story ideas into printable braille and tactile graphics using consumer-grade 3D printers.

This development addresses a critical societal need by making braille literacy resources more accessible, potentially reversing declining literacy rates among visually impaired children.
