Prepared Or Unprepared? Evaluating Healthcare Workforce Readiness for Clinical Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Nigeria

A recent study in Nigeria evaluated the healthcare workforce's readiness for clinical adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). While awareness of AI in healthcare was high among 761 professionals surveyed, objective knowledge and self-reported preparedness were limited. This suggests significant gaps in education and training are needed to effectively integrate AI technologies into clinical practice.

The successful integration of Artificial Intelligence into healthcare systems globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, hinges on workforce readiness. Limited knowledge and preparedness, despite high awareness, pose a significant barrier to leveraging AI's potential benefits for patient care and operational efficiency.

Overall awareness of AI in healthcare among surveyed professionals in Nigeria was high (92.6%).
