Perceived educational value, ethical risk, and support for responsible AI governance in higher education: an embedded mixed-methods study

A research study explored the relationship between perceived educational value (PEV) of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), AI ethical risk perception (AERP), and support for responsible AI governance (RAGS) among higher education stakeholders. The study utilized an embedded mixed-methods design, combining quantitative Likert-scale data and qualitative open-ended responses from a structured questionnaire, to understand the factors influencing stakeholder support for institutional GenAI governance.

The increasing integration of GenAI into critical domains such as education necessitates a robust understanding of stakeholder perspectives on its governance. Addressing perceived value and ethical risks is crucial for developing sustainable and broadly supported governance frameworks for emerging technologies, impacting adoption, regulation, and public trust.
