Artificial intelligence in initial teacher training for pre-service primary school teachers in mathematics: a systematic review

A systematic literature review is being conducted to investigate the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programs for pre-service primary school teachers, specifically in mathematics education. This research aims to understand the approaches, characteristics, and outcomes of AI integration in these training contexts, responding to the recognized need by UNESCO for teachers to be prepared for AI use in education.

The integration of AI into teacher training is a critical development for ensuring the future workforce is equipped to leverage emerging technologies in foundational education. Understanding the current state and effectiveness of AI training for pre-service primary school teachers will inform strategic decisions regarding curriculum development and resource allocation for future educational systems.
