A research training ecosystem model (RTEM) to guide development of effective research training programs

Effective research training program design is inherently complex due to varied project natures, individual trainee characteristics, and environmental factors. To address this challenge, a Research Training Ecosystem Model (RTEM), adapted from Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory, has been developed. This model provides a framework for program directors to map their unique training ecosystem, facilitating the iterative development and revision of learning opportunities to optimize positive impacts and mitigate negative influences on trainee development.
