Entitlement and access
Why access is granted by record, not by request.
An entitlement is the record that grants access. It is created by the server after a payment is confirmed, and it carries the term it covers: about one calendar month for a monthly plan, one year for an annual plan.
- Access is checked on the server on every request; the browser cannot grant it.
- If a payment is reversed or refunded, the entitlement is closed and access ends.
- Free accounts hold a standing entitlement with a small monthly download allowance.
